Generally, Google displays two types of search results. One is organic and the other one is paid. The organic results are displayed on the left hand side of the screen while the paid ones are displayed on the right hand side. There are also times when the paid results are shown above the first organic result. One nice way to notice paid results is the word "Ad" that accompanies the results shown above the organic results.

Organic search results are those that are free. If Google indexes a website, then that website is displayed as part of SERPs for a particular keyword. The relevancy of a web page for a specific keyword is considered and then the result is displayed. On the other hand, we have the Google AdWords, which is also known as a typical example of pay-per-click (PPC) advertisements.

Organic listings on Google always take much more time to achieve than paid marketing campaigns (through Google AdWords) to achieve results. Organic listings are as result of a properly SEO optimized website and it takes time to bring appropriate traffic to the website.

This marketing strategy requires applying different techniques to encourage the search engine algorithm to discern your business site above other websites. Some of the techniques include improving the keyword-content ratio, adding Meta-tags and optimization of images through Alt tags.

SEO is needed in order for your website to be ranked higher in big search engines when specific keywords are entered.

When a keyword is entered into the search engine, your website will appear in the list. Studies show that most users will always choose from the first page in the results. To keep the visitor interested, the web site must be to the point, illuminating, well designed, well organized and rich in content.

On the other hand, paid campaigns constitutes of advertising campaigns such as the Google AdWords. A website will get instant results with a paid Google Adwords campaign. The ads will at once appear, and leads will be generated mechanically. These ads will bring quality traffic to the website.

Google will switch to a mobile-first index soon

Googler Gary Illyes just announced that Google is switching from a desktop focused index to a mobile-first index. That's rather big news, because Google always favored the desktop version of sites for ranking, even on mobile. This move puts mobile front and center. However, it's not entirely unexpected. Mobile search is growing so fast that this move was almost inevitable. Site owners must ensure their mobile site presents the correct content at all times.

Now, please remember that this is not yet in effect. It's a warning, and it should make you aware of the fact that you should put all your efforts in making your website mobile responsive as good as possible.
